Hillel at Miami University (Hillel) is a non-profit, cultural and educational organization.
Culture
Hillel at Miami strives to be a student-focused organization that cultivates peer-to-peer programming and engagement and authentically provides a student-owned environment. The organization’s primary programmatic decision-makers are meant to be the Va’ad Student Leadership and Engagement Intern teams, who are then supported by the Hillel staff. All Jewish Miami undergraduate students are welcome to become involved in the various available leadership opportunities and committees of Hillel at Miami, including non-elected official or unofficial lay leadership positions reporting to the Executive Committee.
Hillel: Association of Jewish Students (Hillel: AJS) is a registered student organization whose executive committee comprises the President, Vice President, and Treasurer. The Executive Committee works with Hillel at Miami University to serve the Jewish student body, Miami University staff and faculty, and the surrounding community and create meaningful and innovative opportunities for students across campus to engage in and with Jewish life.

President
The President is integral in developing and executing a thoughtful, strategic plan for Hillel at Miami University. The President is responsible for not only supervision of the Va’ad Student Leadership Team, but will be vital in building external relationships throughout the Miami University community. The President works collaboratively with the Executive Board (composed of the President, Vice President, and Treasurer).
VP of Jewish Life
The VP of Jewish Life at Hillel will play an integral role in developing opportunities to engage students in Jewish life on campus, encouraging them to become leaders and participants in student-organized Jewish events on campus. The primary role of the VP of Jewish Life is to oversee the creation and execution of Jewish holiday and Shabbat experiences in Hillel’s programming calendar.
VP of Greek Life
The VP of Greek Life at Hillel will play an integral role in developing opportunities to engage Jewish Greek-affiliated students in Jewish life on campus, encouraging them to become leaders and participants in student-organized Hillel events on campus. The primary role of the VP of Greek Life is to oversee the creation and execution of Greek Life experiences in Hillel’s programming calendar.
Social Media & Marketing Intern
The Social Media & Marketing Intern reports to Hillel as Miami's Assistant Director and ensures that all social media content is aligned with our brand & style guidelines, and is scheduled and posted in a timely and strategic manner. The Social Media Intern will liaise with relevant student leadership and they will provide information for design and content which the intern will integrate into Instagram and Facebook posts, and others as needed.
Vice President
The Vice President is necessary in developing and implementing intentional and meaningful programming for Hillel at Miami University. The Vice President is responsible for supporting the Va’ad Student Leadership team in the process of brainstorming, innovating, and developing new programs for the Miami Jewish community. The Vice President works collaboratively with the Executive Board (composed of the President, Vice President, and Treasurer).
VP of Social Programming
The VP of Social Programming at Hillel will play an integral role in developing social opportunities to engage students in Jewish life on campus, encouraging them to become leaders and participants in student-organized Jewish events on campus. The primary role of the VP of Social Programming is to oversee the creation and execution of social experiences in Hillel’s programming calendar.
VP of Community Service
The VP of Community Service at Hillel will play an integral role in developing opportunities to engage students in Jewish life on campus, encouraging them to become leaders and participants in student-organized Jewish events on campus. The primary role of the VP of Community Service is to oversee the creation and execution of volunteer experiences into Hillel’s programming calendar.
Student Chef Intern
The Student Chef reports to the Operations Manager to create menus for Shabbat and holiday celebrations. They will ensure that each menu has options for dietary restrictions and follows the rules of kashrut. The Student Chef will work with the Operations Manager to create grocery lists and a cooking schedule for each event. The Student Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking all food and has a basic understanding of food safety. They will also be responsible for cleaning up after each meal including the kitchen.
Treasurer
The Treasurer plays a vital role in the financial well-being of Hillel and its programs. As a Va’ad Student Leadership Executive Committee member, you must act as a role model, create interactions with students, and help with events and projects that Hillel produces on a rolling basis. The Treasurer is part of the Va’ad Student Leadership Team, reports to the President, and is supported and supervised by the Assistant Director.
VP of Israel Affairs
The VP of Israel Affairs at Hillel will play an integral role in developing opportunities to engage students in Jewish life on campus, encouraging them to become leaders and participants in student-organized Israel-focused events on campus. The primary role of the VP of Israel Affairs is to oversee the creation and execution of Israel experiences in Hillel’s programming calendar.
Engagement Intern
The Engagement Intern will play an integral role in building one-on-one relationships with Jewish students while striving to understand their interests, passions, and aspirations and connecting them to opportunities that they may find meaningful. In addition, the Engagement Intern oversee the First Year Students of Hillel (FYSH) committee, which will be a hub of innovation for engagement and programming for first-year students.
