Annie Joseph, Class of 2025

Annie Joseph, a first year at Miami, was featured as part of our new “Hillel: Student Spotlight” series where we highlight Jewish leaders in our community. On the topic of remaining close to Jewish beliefs in college, Annie says that, “[her] spiritual practice allows [her] to be grateful for every day and focused on appreciating and taking advantage of the time [she has].” Practicing Judaism in college can be a struggle for some, but according to Annie, going to Shabbat weekly to “start [her] weekend on the right foot” and letting her Jewish values guide her decisions allows her to remain close to her beliefs.

When asked if involvement in Judaism in college is important to her, Annie claims that, “it allows [her] to connect with [her] community. Let's face it, college can be lonely. Participating in a Jewish community helps to rid of some of that loneliness.” For more information about Annie’s Jewish journey and to learn more about our students, check out our Instagram story highlight titled, “Student Spotlights!”
