Avi Dave, ‘20, back to Hillel as the Springboard Innovation Fellow.

Hillel at Miami University is pleased to announce that Cincinnati native, Avi Dave, a Miami University 2020 graduate with a degree in Public Administration, has recently accepted the position of Springboard Innovation Fellow for the 2021 - 2023 academic school years. Avi has been passionate about the Jewish world for as long as he can remember. Before college, he attended a Rockwern Academy, spent 11 summers at Camp Livingston as a camper and staff member, and served as President of Adath Israel’s USY chapter in high school. On top of that, Avi has had the privilege to travel to Israel four times from 2014-2019.

While a student at Miami University, Avi was an active member of Hillel serving as the Vice President of Hillel: Association of Jewish Students during his Senior year. Avi also served as an Engagement Intern during his Sophomore year while also serving as the Education Chair of Students for Israel Miami for 3 years in addition to being Campus Outreach Coordinator for HawkPac during all 4 years of his college career. Furthering his commitment to Jewish campus life, Avi also served as an Emerson Fellow through StandWithUs.org creating engaging and educational Israel programming for Miami and was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. Avi comes from a strong background of Cincinnati Jewish communal leadership as his grandfather, Bernard L. Dave, z”l, served as the first chairman of the AJA-JWF Leadership Council; was a Past Director and Secretary of Rockdale Temple; and was a past Board member of Jewish Vocational Services. In addition, Mr. Dave was a founding Board member of The Jewish Foundation and was a past Board member of the Mayerson JCC, recipient of the Kovod Award, co-chair of the 1985 Renovation Campaign, recipient of the Life Member Award, past Chairman of the Endowment Fund and recipient of the Sigmund Cohen Award. The Springboard Fellowship is a paid, two-year fellowship that brings recent college grads with raw talent, passion, and skills to college campuses across North America to reimagine and redesign Jewish student life.

Partially funded by Hillel International, Springboard Fellows are trained in the renowned Design Thinking methodology and are charged with sparking ideas for transforming two to three areas of Jewish student life into ones that are better suited for today’s students. Hillel at Miami University is the central address for Jewish life on the Oxford campus serving nearly 1000 Jewish students. It is part of the rich and diverse Hillel network, on more than 550 colleges and universities worldwide, whose mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world.
