AJS Information
Applications for next year's Executive Board have been posted on our website (www.muhillel.org). All applications must be turned in by Sunday, November 25th at 3pm to run in this year's election.
All of the information for elections can be found online, including where to submit the applications.
 
The Constitution will be posted Tuesday evening and the vote will be opened up at that time to ratify the Constitution. All members of AJS in good standing may submit one vote.  Please review the Constitution on the website before emailing your vote.  Please email "yay", "nay", or "abstain" to muhillel@muhillel.org AND
steinera@muohio.edu by Sunday, November 25th at 5pm. Note, for your vote to be counted it must be sent to BOTH email addresses in the same email.

Thursday, November 29- DAC Holiday Party
Diversity Affairs Council and the Office of Diversity Affairs will be hosting The Global Holiday Party on November 29, 2007 from 6:30-9:00pm in the Shriver Heritage Room. As citizens of a diverse world, it is important for students, faculty, and community members to learn about and experience other culture's customs and traditions.  This event will give different diverse groups on campus the opportunity to share something about their how their cultures celebrate their specific holidays. AJS will be showing off Chanukah, so come learn about other DAC groups while enjoying traditionally Chanukah foods!
 
Sunday, December 2-AJS Executive Board Elections at Hillel at 5pm
Come vote for the next leadership board of AJS.  Dinner will be provided. For more information, talk to Robyn Steiner, President.
 
Thursday, December 6-Spa Night with Lights on Campus
Join us on Thursday, December 6th from 9pm-midnight at Lights on Campus for a night of FREE relaxation.  We will be offering free massages, yoga classes, tai chi classes, paraffin wax hand treatments, movies, food, and community engagement projects.  For more information, talk to Elizabeth Gartenberg.
 
Saturday, December 8- Fundraiser at the Phi Delt Gates from 11pm-3am
We need your help to sell cookies, hot chocolate, and Miami-in-hebrew t-shirts to raise money for programming. For more information, talk to Josh Oberndorf, VP of Finance.
8 Nights of Chanukah Programs!
Look for information in next week's issue about terrific and fun Chanukah programming. Hillel will put on events both in the Hillel building and at various places around campus. There will be Chanukah candle lighting each night a a different dining hall on campus. The schedule will be posted in next week's JewsPaper. For more information, talk to Dave.

Would you like to learn how to chant Torah? What about becoming bar or bat mitzvah at Hillel?  (While many become b'nai mitzvah at 13, it is possible later as well.) Email Amy, our Director and Rabbinic Resource with the best day/time for your schedule.

Every Wednesday - Discovering Judaism
Learn about Judaism from an Orthodox rabbi from Cincinnati Kollel. Free dairy dinner and informal class at Hillel each Wednesday at 7:15 pm. Note: There will be no class this week due to Thanksgiving Break.

ENG 230J - Jewish American Fiction Since 1945
Great new class still open - act now. Are you still looking for a class for next semester?  Take ENG 230J "Jewish American Fiction since 1945" with Professor Parks on Tuesday/Thursday from 2-3:15 p.m. for 3 credits. Sign up soon or this class may not be available!

This course will examine the contributions of Jewish-American writers to American fiction in the years since the Second World War. In addition to such issues as identity and (ambivalent) assimilation into the American mainstream, the course will explore the writer's responses to the Holocaust and to the many changes in American culture. Clothing Drive to Benefit the Oxford Family Resource Center and Heart-to-Heart
AJS and Lights on Campus are running a clothing drive to benefit the Oxford Family Resource Center. Please drop off your donations (clothing and small items) to the drop boxes inside Hillel or Campus Ministry Center. We will accept donations from now until the end of the semester. For more information, talk to Jenny.
 
Israeli Hip-Hop Reggae Band in Cincinnati
An Ethiopian Israeli Hip-Hop Reggae Band will be performing in Cincinnati as part of the Jewish Federation's Israel@60 celebration. The band is playing at 20th Century Theatre on Thursday, November 29th. Doors open at 7:30pm and the concert begins at 8pm. This is open to the entire community. Tickets are $18/person in advance or $25/person at the door for adults and $10/person in advance or $15/person at the door for college students.
 
The concert is expected to sell out. Tickets can be purchased by emailing lkreindler@jfedcin.org.
